Happy 2021! I'm very glad that 2020 is over and I hope that this year will be better for everyone. I don't find yearly goals or resolutions helpful but in 2021 I hope to see far away friends (if safe), eat lots of yummy food, write some things I can be proud of and sew some more quilts.

Since its the beginning of a new month I'm going to look back at my goals for December 2020 and then set some new goals for January 2021.

1) Finish the Pig Quilt
This finished and in the mail, tracking says its in Canada, even if its a bit vague about where in Canada so hopefully it will arrive soon.

2) Finish the sea quilt top
Done! I also made the top for a little mini quilt with the leftover blocks.

3) Hanukkah
I had a pretty good holiday. I made latkes twice and we lit candles every night. I was sad not to be able to share the latkes with anyone though.

4) Christmas
We had a nice but quite Christmas. I was inspired to make a lot of cookies a few days before the holiday so we where able to leave plates out for friends and family to pick up even if we couldn't visit. For dinner R made Chinese food. I was given maybe lovely things! And people seem to like the things we picked out for them.

5) Read Five Online SFF shorts (Stretch goal read some of a collection from my TBR
Completed. I also read some stories in Silk and Steel which wasn't technicality on my TBR since it wasn't out yet

6) Co-write a Post for Lady Business
Cosy Up With Our Short Fiction Recs This was so fun to write!

7) Beta my friend’s Novel Length Fic
As mention in the mid-month check this is done. Friend is making some serious revisions so this not posted but I will link when it is.

8) Write 5k words of or finish a draft of “Gone to the Other End of the Sky” the Untamed Space AU fic I’ve been writing
This didn't work out. After struggling for a while and trying a couple of different things I have decided to put this fic aside for now. I'm sad about it, but continuing to work on it wasn't fun, and was stressing me out.

Well I think I did ok on my December goals, on to January Goals.

1) Write my 2020 in review posts
I'm currently planning to write posts about writing, reading and sewing in 2020. I might also write about other topics if I'm inspired. If there's anything you'd like me to cover let me know.

2) Write two posts talking about what I've been observing in the built and natural environment around me
I've enjoyed writing these posts and would like to get back to them after taking December off.

3) Read Five Online SFF shorts (Stretch goal: read or DNF all bookmarked stories form 2020, and finish Silk and Steel
The five online shorts has been a very manageable goal for a while now, so I'm just going to keep it.

4)Sew two shirts for the kid
I have one of these cut out already so hopefully this will go fast.

5) Sew Stripey baby quilt top
This another project I have all cut out, and the stripey quilts tend to go together fast

6)Write something fun!
Trying to give myself some space for new projects. Maybe this will be the short fluffy fic that I've been meaning to write but not having ideas for for months. Maybe it will be some kind of fun rec list, or something else entirely.

7) Take the cats to the vet
My cat needs a vaccine booster, and my nephew's cat who has been living with us for a few months also needs some shots. So I guess its time to figure out how my vet is dealing with the pandemic.

8)School Choice Form
We need to pick our top three schools and fill out a form indicating them for kindergarten in the fall. Hopefully since I did the very onerous paperwork for getting the kid enrolled in the district so she could start TK last year this won't be too bad. Though making a decision about which school feels fraught.

That's all for now. Wishing everyone a good New Year!
