#DecRecs is reccing fest that happens in December. People rec things (where things can be anything) they want to rec and share them with the hashtag #DecRecs. This year like last year I'm reccing a thing every day for the month!
Here's everything I've posted for #DecRecs so far this year:
1. For my 1st rec of #DecRecs I'm recommending "Fandom for Robot" by Vina Jie-Min Prasad! This a charming story about a robot who discovers transformative fandom and makes a friend.
My favorite stories about robots are about what it means to be part of a community and "Fandom for Robots" is a great example of this
This story gives me warm fuzzy feelings!

2. Today's #DecRecs is The Long Ballad! My new obsession!
It's like if you mashed up the works of Tamora Pierce and Lois McMasterBujold and turned them into a Cdrama! Some things which make this show awesome:
*Fierce but naive young woman who crossdresses and has adventures
*A girl who is not like other girls and her best friend who is (I love them both!)
*found family
*smart characters succeeding at schemes and tactics
*Cross cultural romance
*Amazing character development!
A couple of caveats for the above rec of The Long Ballad:
This show is really nationalistic (via it’s glorification of the Tang dynasty) it’s also a show that portrays a lot of central asian characters, sometimes leans into racist stereotypes about them (Some of these characters are awesome and nuanced, others not so much) Over all I didn’t find the narrative especially pro assimilation as these things go but your mileage may very.
Despite these flaws I really loved this show, and I’d love for more people to watch it and talk to me about it!
3. I'm sick today so for #DecRecs I'm reccing one of my favorite comfort reads " The Witches of Athens" by Lara Elena Donnelly
featuring
*sisterhood
*queer romance
*coffee!

4. Still sick today so today's #DecRecs is the tea I'm drinking right now: 龍井 aka Longjing aka Dragon Well
It not too fussy but delicious. Also it's grown near West Lake!
(Link so you can see the picture I included on mastodon if you want)
5. For #DecRecs today I'm reccing Artisans of Splendent Vale! This is an awesome campaign adventure board game! You play as one of four queer artisans of color. My character can talk to plants, likes textiles and uses ze/zir pronouns!
The game is choose your own adventure style, but also includes tactical action scenes. When your character gets new equipment you get a sicker to but on your character sheet! All the art is super great!

6. I'm in my fandom feels today so for #DecRecs I want to rec one my favorite fics ever:
"on a long journey" by twigofwillow
https://archiveofourown.org/works/29819775/chapters/73366473
This a gorgeous story about Sizhui and Wen Ning post canon, full of food and family and finding your place in the world. I love how the story weaves past and present, including memories, stories and letters. Truly a masterpiece
7. Today's #DecRecs is Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin! This middle grade fantasy book inspired by Chinese mythology! There's a dragon! And stories within stories. It's illustrated by the author and I love the pictures!
