1)Finish Editing "Can't Stop Thinking of That Far Road"
Success! I have posted 4/5 chapters of this, my longest and most complicated fic yet.
2)Read Five Online SFF shorts
Success!
3) Write two posts talking about what I've been observing in the built and natural environment around me
"Well..."
"Good Air Again"
4)Write one critical essay
Done: Reccing as Critical Practice
5) Write a letter to state or local officials (Two for a stretch goal)
Technical pass -- I did two form letters that I came across online.
6) Do some of a)work on that top for me, b)start sewing some long sleeve shirts for the kid for winter or c) baste the magic parade/dragon quilt.
I made one long sleeve shirt, and cut out two more, and also basted the quilt so I'm calling it this success!
7)Do something to observe the High Holly Days
Well I made apple and honey challah so I guess that counts. I wish I was more engaged in Jewish community stuff but its hard with a kid and the pandemic.
September was hard month with all the smoke, and the pandemic dragging on and on, so it's surprising but good to look back a see that I met all my goals! Well done me!
Here are my goals for October:
1)finish the two long sleeve shirt that I cut out
I'm like to get these done for the rainy season.
2)Quilt the quilt that I basted
Quilting is the part where you sew through all the layers so the stay together. I'm planning to do simple straight lines for this one.
3) Write two posts talking about what I've been observing in the built and natural environment around me
These are fun, and its been good to stretch my writing in this direction
4)Read Five Online SFF shorts (Stretch goal read some of a collection form my physical TBR)
5)Voting research
There's a lot of things to vote on here in California, and locally that I need to read up on. There like a dozen statewide ballot measures, plus city and maybe some special districts. And the mayor and my city councilor are up for reelection. So I need to read up. My brother did some research on the state ballot measures which he sent me -- but I need to go read it.
6)Celebrate my kid's birthday!
She is going to be five! Not sure what we are going to do given the pandemic and everything but there will at least be cake and presents.
7)Halloween!
Got to make or acquire a costume for the kid, and made do some decorations. We can't do proper trick-or-treating but my parents, who we are in a bubble with, have said we can do their house at least.
8)Finish one long blog post
I have two in process that I'd like to finish soon
That's it for now. I'd love to start on a new fic, but I seem to need some time between projects so I'm just letting that be for now and hoping that inspiration strikes. Meanwhile I have started too many quilts because they are so soothing to sew.
Happy Mid-Autumn festival! I hope you all have a great month this October!
