Last Tuesday the winds shifted and blew the smoke out of the Bay Area. Which means that it's been nice enough to go outside for almost a week! I've been taking full advantage of this. Here are some things that I've done outside in the last week:

*Went on walk with the kid to visit the neighborhood fish pond. All the fish seem well.

*Went on a walk with my brother and the kid. We bought ice cream at the local corner store. The kid walked along a wall by holding on to the fence on top and ended up with her hands covered in ash. All the cars had a thin layer of ash on them.

*Taken photos of my quilt top, finally!

*Picked up books form the library. Our local library is doing pick up only right now where you go to the door of the library give them your card and they give you books. However since this involves having the door of the library open they stopped pickup while the air was really bad.

*gone on walks by myself where I listened to podcasts and enjoyed the view.

*Had a take out picnic with R and the kid. We got Korean fried chicken, and ran around in the grass a lot!

*took a long walk with my parents and my brother.

*had take out dinner with my parents in their back yard.

It's been such a relief to be able to get outside again. However the winds are supposed to shift back soon, so I'm still constantly checking the air quality map. But I'm trying to make the most of it while it lasts.

I've been going outside every day last week, too, because AIR!

Keeping fingers crossed that it holds!

That sounds like a really chilled out week. Hopefully it'll stay clear a bit longer

So happy to hear you have some days when the outdoors isn't your enemy.

First time I've heard of Korean Fried Chicken, which sounds delightful.

Our library is doing outdoor pickups. They email me that books have arrived, I call, give them my library card number and schedule a pickup time, they check out the books and put 'em in a recycled bag with my name on it and put it on a table underneath an overhang. That way they don't have to F2F with me.

The quilt top is BEAUTIFUL!

...I suspect the librarians were involved in setting the policy, because it definitely minimizes their exposure.

They're also opening the library for computer users (whether they bring their own, use the well-worn library desktops, or use the loaner laptops). The Current Crisis has shone a bright light on the desperate importance on internet access.. Our library system uses volunteers for routine tasks like resolving -- I'm sure they're struggling under the work load.

That's a gorgeous quilt top! And I'm glad you've gotten some time outside, at least.
