Passover Food
Mar. 24th, 2010 10:30 amSo passover is coming up. I'm excited. I've been invited to two Seders after three years of missing them.
However I'm a bit worried about what I will pack for lunch. I mostly take sandwiches at the moment. And when I don't I generally take some other baked goods. So if you have suggestions for veggie, non-grain stuff that can be eaten cold, that would be very helpful.
Also if you celebrate passover and you want to tell me about what you traditionally eat, or what you are planing to eat this year I would enjoy hearing about it.

Date: 2010-03-25 11:41 am (UTC)For packed lunches, if you eat kitniyot*, you could make sushi or bento style food. If you google for vegetarian bento you'll find lots of recipes. You could also make matzah sandwiches but it might work better to have matzah and some kind of dip, because most matzah is too brittle to really work as a sandwich medium.
* Ashkenazim have a custom to exclude certain foods on top of the five grains prohibited in the Torah. As it's a custom the foods included vary between community. Rice is a common food to be classified as kitniyot. Some communities go completely meshugana about it and include coffee, potatoes, chocolate, mange tout etc.
