May Goals Wrap Up and June Goal Setting

Hello new wiscon people! Welcome! I use this space to set myself monthly goals and help create more structure in my life. At the start of the month I look over the last month's goals and then set some new goals for the current month.
In May my goals where:
1) Write fic on 20 days
I managed 15 days. Due to wrist pain and travel I wasn’t able to write more. I thought I might be able to write while traveling but I really didn’t have the mental energy
2)Finish the improv rainbow quilt Finish the blue section of the improv rainbow quilt
I scaled this goal back due to hand pain, but I was able to meet the scaled back goal. This has become very much a slow and steady project.
3) Figure out what's next in Classical Chinese
I’ve been teaching myself Classical Chinese via self study. Its super fun and I love learning it! In April I finished the first unit in A New Practical Primer of Literary Chinese by Paul Router and I wasn’t feeling ready to move on to the next unit, so I had to think about what to do next. I’ve decided to start another textbook (An Introduction to Literary Chinese by Michael A. Fuller) and go over the basics again!
4) Family Trip to Santa Cruz
This was very fun! (I talked a bit more about it my mid-month check in
5) Wiscon
I did end up going in person, and I had a wonderful time! I got home Monday evening and I’m still very tired and also my brain is full of thinky thoughts.
6) Take better care of my wrist
I’m not sure that I managed to take better care of my wrist. This goal is really not very measurable and therefore perhaps not a great goal. However I did spend a lot time not doing things do to wrist pain and/or trying to rest my wrist. This goal was mostly here so I could feel better about not hitting all my other goals if the reason was wrist pain – and that actually worked. So perhaps it wasn’t a bad goal after all.
So I could have done more writing and sewing, but I don't feel bad about not doing them because I was traveling and dealing with RSI stuff.
Here are my goals for June:
1) Write something for
ladybusiness
I will count this as done if I have a draft but have not yet posted at the end of the month.
It’s been a while since I wrote a longer piece on Lady Business and I’d like to get back to it. Plus I have lot of inspiration for this kind of thing having just gotten back form WisCon
2) Write fic on 20 days
Only 15 fic writing days this month to allow me some more time to rest my wrist and to work on something for Lady Business. (I count it as having written on a day if I write at least three sentences.)
3) Read the intro and do lessons one and two in An Introduction to Literary Chinese by Michael A. Fuller
Two lessons a month was about how quickly I was working through A New Practical Primer of Literary Chinese. The lessons in this book might go a bit faster because they have less vocab, and I’ve prestudied some of the new to me vocab, but I don’t want to count on that.
4) Finish the purple section of the improv rainbow quilt. Stretch goal: Finish the top
In theory once I get all the sections done it will be just a few seams to finish the quilt top, but I can’t count on my wrist holding up.
5) Transition to summer vacation
This is the last week of school, it feels early to me. I think the whole school year has shifted forward two weeks since I was in school and it's confusing. Anyways this kind of thing is always a bit of an adjustment for the whole household. The kid is signed up for some very fun sounding camps, but first she has a week with no camp, and I’m planning some expeditions.
6) Ongoing Wrist issues
I know another poorly defined goal about my wrist. This is to give myself permission to not do all the things if the reason is wrist pain. I’m also planning to email the PT I saw before and ask for more advice.
Happy June! Do you have any exciting plans for this month?
