forestofglory: picture of califorina poppies (poppies)

One of the things that I enjoy about online life is seeing pictures of flowers form all over the place. It's fun to watch spring come at different times for my northern hemisphere pals, while catching glimpses of fall arriving in the southern hemisphere. There are common garden flowers that seem to be nearly everywhere like daffodils and cherry blossoms. But they bloom at different times in different places and I enjoy getting to see them for a lot longer than they bloom.

Here in the Bay Area the earliest flowers are done. The magnolia in the back has only leaves now. Out and about I'm noticing that the jasmine is coming into bloom. It smells great! Also wisteria is in bloom all over the place. I love the masses of flowers it produces! Plus there are California poppies, and some iris -- some native varieties, and some showy garden varieties. The native ones are some of my very favorite flowers.

What's in bloom where you are?

Very little's in bloom yet here, but it should be happening soon. :)

I can see all the flowers you name, though, in my memory. I miss the poppies especially! We had some that bloomed in our backyard, and I loved seeing their bright orange glory, such a delightful contrast to everything around them.

The dogwoods (or at least, I think they're dogwoods?) are just starting to bloom here, which is lovely. Also, some cherry blossoms!

I wonder if I would like the smell of a jasmine flower. I despise the smell of jasmine in perfumes, but actual flowers often smell really different from the way they smell in perfumes.

The azaleas are going strong as are the dogwoods. The Bradford pears are basically blessedly done. LOL

Unfortunately for me, the forsythia, which is beautiful but also a terrible allergen for me. The daffodils have just ended, but the redbuds are just starting to bud out. The cherry trees aren't there yet, but soon!

Crocus are just about done, and daffodils are starting. Forsythia is in full bloom.

I also love seeing photos of flowers and the like. Over here we have some pansies blooming, but I haven't seen a lot of flowers in general yet.
