Hello! It's July already! So it's time to see how I did on my June goals and set myself so new goals for July.
1) Sew a shirt for my friend's toddler godson
Done!
2) Bind and finish the Wedding present quilt
I got to give this to the happy couple during a porch visit and they loved it!
3) Finish the rainbow baby quilt
Not quite. I based and quilted this but still need to bind it. Have some pictures
3.5) Stretch Goal: One or two baby gifts
I finished both of these and put them in the mail yesterday. Babies are externally small. Pictures: shirt, jacket
4) Write two posts talking about what I've been observing in the built and natural enviroment around me
On Seeing Race in My Neighborhood
Recent Outdoor Adventures
5) Write something long form
I have written 4k of fic, so that totally counts.
6) Activism
The problem with nebulous goals like this is they aren't very measurable so I feel like I could have done a lot more. And I could have! But at I did so some things. I made a bunch of donations. I wrote to a elected official. I wrote to the OTW board and advocating for others to do so. I also did a bunch of reading about racism. So I'm going to count this as completed.
7) Read Five Online SFF shorts(stretch goal read ten)
Done! Most of these where longer than flash this time too.
Ok, I need to take moment to feel accomplished now. Look how well I did!
Now its time for some new goals:
1) Finish the rainbow baby quilt
As mentioned about I just have to bind this.
2) Sew a top for me
I have pattern and fabric that have been sitting around for years so its time to finally use them. (For some reason I'm always happier to sew for kids than for adults -- maybe because kids grow out of everything so it feels like less of a commitment)
3) Write two posts talking about what I've been observing in the built and natural enviroment around me
I've enjoyed doing this the past couple of months. It's not all the things I want to say about these topics, but its helping me feel more comfortable talking about them.
4) Write 5k more of my fic WIP
This about 150 words a day so very doable.
5) Write two letters to state or local officials
I'm trying this as more concrete and manageable activism goal
6 )Read Five Online SFF shorts(stretch goal:read some of one of the collections or anthologies I have around)
Going to keep this one going.
7) Do something nice for my birthday
My birthday is the 30th of this month and I want to plan a fun day for myself.
I hope July is less intense than June has been!

Date: 2020-07-01 09:48 pm (UTC)I think baby projects are always quite satisfying as they take much less time and so much less fitting required. Straight out of the packet, no messing required.
Activism is a funny thing, there's ALWAYS more to be done, but that seems like a very quick route to burn out. Your target for July seems infinitely more do-able.
I'm loath to set any goals of my own this month, as quite a few things seem to have gone by the wayside but this list is definitely inspiring me.

Date: 2020-07-02 07:03 pm (UTC)Fitting is horrible I agree. This is why I love jersey as it means the only adjustments I need to do are lengthening it.
If you want, send me a photo of one of your projects for you and I can make adjustment recommendations - not that I'm an expert but I have quite a few fitting resources lying around.
