March Goal Wrap Up and April Goals
Apr. 1st, 2020 09:55 amWell March is over. That was long month. Lets see how I did on my goals.
1) Finish posting Hugo Rec (by close of nominations March 13)
As mentioned in the mid-month check in I did this.
2)Finish a draft of the current fic I'm writing
I did this! I honestly thought I wasn't going to make it for a while but then last week I pushed myself to write more and was able to finish.
3) read five online SFF shorts
Nope, only read three. Honestly I would not have done any but
mrissa posted a bunch of recs a few days ago that included some very short works and I went and read three of those in one gulp.
4) Finish the shirt that I cut out last month
I did this, but then I was so excited that I rushed off an put it on the kid before I took any pictures. But I also sewed a whole second shirt so have a picture of that one.
5) Finish the quilt top for my friends' wedding present
Did this! Here's the picture again.
6) FOGcon!
Remember when we could gather with other people? This con was lovely but it feels like such a long time ago.
March was bit light on goals but then with everything that was happening it turned out to be good mouth not to try and get too much done. So I'm happy that I completed all of my goals for the month, except one.
Shelter in place is going to be happening here at least through this mouth, so I guess April will be a lot like the second half of March. We'll see how it goes -- but I have some projects plan to help me feel more like a human.
1)Sew the two quilt tops I have cut out
These are pretty simple, with big square pieces so they should be fast to put together. I already have all the long pieces put together for one of them so its just a few straight seams to the end.
2)Sew a dress with the fabric the kid picked out
She picked this fabric on a trip to the fabric store like a year ago and I still haven't made a dress for her.
3)Post the fic I'm working on
It's in beta now. So I'll see what my readers think and how many changes it needs, but hopefully I can do it in a month. It would be nice to have it out in the world.
4)Read five online SFF shorts
my reading focus has been all over the place, but I want to at least try to keep up with short fiction.
5)Passover
I am so sad I can't have a big family Seder this year. I just love hosting big dinners and ritual. I'm going to host an online seder but its not the same. And the extra Passover restrictions on what I can eat feel like a more than normal burden when I'm living under so many other restrictions right now. So I usually love this holiday but right now I'm feeling a bit meh about it.
Do any of you have an favorite Passover recipes to share? Especially things that I could make with the kid?
6)Fanwriting Project
I'm still working on the details for this, but I miss writing about media and fandom so I'm planning a new project. I'm aiming for something low key and fun. Expect to hear more soon.
Hope you all are hanging in there. Take care of yourselves!

Date: 2020-04-01 05:27 pm (UTC)Yeah, we're thinking of attempting one too, with my family, and I pointed out to my husband that if we're going to do it online, it might as well be a "rolling" seder -- we can start celebrating early with his friends in Israel, then East Coast, then the ex-pat Israeli family in Texas, and finish up with my family. OK, that's probably not practical, but he's always complaining that his group of friends in Israel has the best seders -- this way we could join in!
