It feels like it's been forever since I’ve posted one of these. I just haven’t been reading a lot of profiction or watching much TV. It’s wild to me that a few years ago I didn’t read fic, and now all I want to is bury myself in a pile of fic. Here’s what I’ve been reading (other than fic) and watching in last month or so since I posted a media round up.
Silver Spoon by Hiromu Arakawa I’ve been rereading this slice of life ag high school manga. It’s very soothing. I have a couple new-to-me volumes to read after I finish rereading the first nine volumes series.
The Fox's Tower and Other Tales by Yoon Ha Lee -- A flash fiction collection. I have been reading one or two of these between fics and rereads. This collection features many stories about magical animals, as well as other things. They are lovely, and it’s nice to have little bit of something new to read, but the stories are short enough that I can focus on them.
Star Trek: Voyager We are still watching this, though slowly. You’d think that having us both at home all the time would mean we watch more TV but I haven’t been feeling like it. Also I really hate the whole idea of Borg Queens.
Desdemona and the Deep by C.S.E. Cooney -- Wow there’s just so much happening in this little novella! I love that! The magic in this is both numinous and creepy, and I liked that the setting was industrial. On the other hand there's a character here who undergoes transition over the course of the story, and it seems sensitively handled to me, but I’d like to read some trans reviewers' takes on it.
Crazy Rich Asians I had movie night with my parents and we watched this. The food scenes in this movie are really good! There’s several cooking montonges that are just fabulous! I wasn’t totally sold on the main romance but I really loved the importance this placed on moms.
Witch Hat Atelier vol 3-4 by Kamome Shirahama This is still really cute!
Our Dining Table by Ori Mita -- A very cute Boys Love manga with food. It's complete in one volume but I wish it was a bit longer because I want more cute cooking!
