Bits an bobs is my many short unrelated things make a post category. Feel free to comment any of the points without commenting on all of them

*Friday we decide to go on an expedition to the beach with the kid who has been really wanting to go. We ended up at small beach on bay (not the ocean) which was great for small kids. There weren't really any waves, the water was pretty warm and there was sand to play with. We also went to the Bay Model which was super cool! It is scale model of the San Fransisco Bay and Delta that the Army Corps of Engineers built in the 50s to understand the Bay. The use computer modeling now but and the model is open to the public. I knew this existed but I didn't realize you could just go there without an appointment or anything. I should have gone while I was writing my thesis.

*I have been sewing again. I'm working on baby quilt for friends kid (She's like 18 months now). I'm at the quilting stage now. There are some picture on on Inaragram

*I haven't been going to farmers markets that much recently, so I haven't been eating as seasonally as I really like. I've been missing out on summer produce. But this last week I did go to the good produce store and get peaches, corn, and tomatoes. I also got some fresh basil and made pesto pasta for dinner.

*I've been in not quite a reading slump? and reading lull lately. I've been reading a lot of fic and sequential art and not many novels. I guess this is mostly ok? I've been enjoying what I've been reading anyways. Except right now I don't really have anything around that I really want to read and that's making me grumpy.

*On a related note I wish the library would get ILL working again. They took it down months ago before they switched to the new online catalog, but the new catalog has been here for almost a month and they are having technical difficulties interfacing with ILL system. Its a minor problem, but I want to have access to all the books!

That Bay Model sounds very cool, and I'm glad you were able to make it to both the beach, and the farmers' market. I have a great market that I can go to every weekend, but the beach is much more difficult, and it's one thing I've never stopped missing about Australia in the ten plus years since I moved to the UK. You're so lucky to live near such beautiful ocean and beaches.

Quilt's looking good. Hopefully your motivation continues :)

I love peaches but they're so rarely any good here, they tend to be all cotton-y and not enough juice. Did you make anything nice with them or just eat them as they were?

Reading slumps are frustrating, particularly if you want to read just not sure what. Is there an old favourite you can go back to? My problem at the moment is sitting still long enough. I just bought This Is How You Lose The Time War which I've been looking forward to for forever but I can't settle long enough to get into it. Strangely don't have that problem with reading Yuri on Ice fic for the umteen-hundreth time *grin

Maybe just social conditioning?>>
Makes as much sense as anything. Could be shorter chapters so much easier to pace but I've read some monstrous fics with chapters that could be fic length in their own right and novels with ridiculously short chapter so who knows.

I learned when I was doing the elimination diet for interstitial cystitis that the one fruit I can't live without is apples. I adore apples. I pretty much like all the fruits, but not being able to eat apples just about killed me. All I could eat on that diet were pears and blueberries. I still like blueberries, but I can hardly bring myself to eat a pear now. LOL I also don't care for kiwi much or pineapple unless it is dried or cooked or in a chutney or salsa.

OMG, they are. I did it for eight months; I was gluten free, and I ate nothing with acid or spice in it. By the end of it, I was miserable. Never doing that again. LOL
