I like a lot of things about the fifth gender but the speed at which the relationship happened was whiplashing, and then I really could have used a cheat sheet to refer to while reading, for all the genders and descriptions because I had no idea which was which really even until the end of the book - I couldn't keep them straight. I liked the characters in general, and the ideas in the worldbuilding, but don't really have any desire to pick it up again.
