Wow, Dreamwidth is ten years old today! I’ve had an account here since the very beginning thanks to [personal profile] liv talking up the site in the early days. I didn’t start post here regularly until about a year after that. Since then its become more and more my online home. Thanks [personal profile] cesy for the paid time that encouraged me start posting here!

I went back a looked at my very first post and its with this same Christoper Robin reading to Pooh icon that's been my default icon the whole time. I’m feeling a bit nostalgic and sentimental. If you are reading this I’m glad you are here!

“Is It Possible to Learn About China by Reading Chinese Science Fiction?” by Ken Liu. Interesting thoughts on reading and watching in translation and what translates and what doesn’t. Ken Liu is an immigrant, a writer and, a translator so he brings a really valuable perspective. (I don't really consume media in translation to learn about other cultures -- so the title of this seems a bit odd to me, but still very worth reading)

Say It with Noodles: On Learning to Speak the Language of Food by Shing Yin Khor. Spending a lot of time thinking about how food can be used to highlight relationships in fiction reminded me of this lovely graphic essay about expressing one's feelings for other people through food. The comic is autobiographical and I really enjoyed the art style.

all good things what you leave behind by [personal profile] melannen A really interesting post about endings that's not about whether its a happy or sad ending but rather what lasts past the end of the story.

Space Station Politics by Iona Datt Sharma. I found this while I was writing my review of Not For Use in Navigation. It's lovely post about community builders in SFF.

The results of the Fansplanning shipping survey are out! I’m sure why I someone who only rarely has shippy feelings am so interested in this survey -- but I’m intensely interested and have been eagerly awaiting these results. There’s also a podcast where they discuss the results that I’m excited to listen to soon.
