After some more recherche I went ahead and bought a visitor's oyster card. I almost didn't when I saw the cost of shipping, but then I thought how nice it would be to not have to worry about it at Heathrow, so went ahead anyways.

I have been invited to make a cake for a family birthday party on Monday night and am dithering about which recipe to use.
