Thankful for Food
Nov. 29th, 2013 10:46 amOn of the things I'm Thankful for this Thanksgiving is the food. Specifically the lovely feast that we ate last night. That I have time and energy to cook, and a kitchen, and apartment with dinning table, so that I can invite my friends over. But that I am food secure, I don't have to worry about were my next meal is coming form.
Getting food for the ground to my table is lot of work. I'm thankful to the farmers and farm workers grew it. To the laborers who packed and shipped. To the government agencies who set safety standards and the people who enforced those standards. To the retail workers who sold to food. The food system is vast and complex, there are many things I want to change about it. Yet I am grateful that I have relatively safe food with not much effort on my part everyday. I know that is not the case for everyone much as I wish it was.
