I need to get back in the habit of writing every day. I gave myself a break over the winter holidays, and then I was fairly stressed out for the 1st 2 weeks of class. However things are on a more even keel now, so I feel I should make an effort again. I've never really had specific writing goal, no word count, or anything, just write a reasonable chuck every day. A long-ish blog post, or email general counts. I'm not sure how to treat revision. It's an important element of writing, but my revisions rarely produce lots of new words, so they don't feel ask productive. (I have two sets of comments on a paper I wrote last term that is hopefully going to be part of my thesis. I definitely need get on with some revision.)
There is a new student in my watershed management group. She is just starting her grad program now -- two weeks into the semester. Class today was all lecture so I didn't really get to talk to her at all. I feel a bit sorry for her though -- starting off two weeks behind is hard.
We did a lot entertaining this weekend. Roast Chicken is becoming my fancy but not difficult dinner of choice. We have found a good source whole chickens, while chicken parts are harder to come by. (There is a local meat vendor who does online ordering pick it up in parking lot once a month. If we order early we can sometimes get chicken parts.) So I made roast chicken for some friends on Friday night. Then Sunday we agreed to host for the supper club we are part of of. Since people tend to trickle in, we severed cheese and crackers with carrot sticks to start. (We have a ton of carrots at the moment, because we bought a giant bag form Costco.) Then served thai-ish curry with rice. The curry had green beans, carrots and sweet potatoes in. R made the curry, I helped out by peeling the veggies for it. The for desert we severed warm apple crisp and homemade vanilla ice cream. I made the crisp and R made the ice cream.
