Spending Time with My Niece
Jul. 24th, 2012 10:23 amI hung out with my niece a lot this last weekend.
On Saturday I took her to the Tilden botanic garden. (Have I said recently how awesome Tilden park is?) This botanic garden is free to the public and features only California native plants. We picked black berries in the parking lot, then played with the water fountain -- it sprays a lot so she had a good time getting wet. Then some else came over to get a drink, and the niece gloomed on to her, so we followed her. (She didn't seem to mind) We found some ripe huckberries and ate lots of those. Then we went an played in the creek. I helped my niece climb over lots of rocks and we saw some dragonflies. Then we went back and ate more huckberries and our garden friend went off to the library. The niece said she had to go potty so we went over to the bathroom in the parking lot where she got distracted by some kids there and played with different water fountain. I showed her the bathroom but she didn't want to use it. It was getting late so we went home.
Then Sunday evening I babysat her while my parents and her parents went out to dinner. At 1st she was very hungry and grumpy, and didn't want any of the food that I was offering her. So that was difficult. Eventually she had plums and green beans for dinner. After she calmed down we spent got out the crayons and drew. We drew people and insects. I'm trying to teach her about different insect body parts. I'm not sure how that is going, she didn't believe me when I said spiders legs can form their heads not their abdomens. After drawing for a while we went up stairs. She really likes my loft bed so we played up there. That where we where when people go back form dinner.
It was great to spend so much time with her, but it was also a lot of work.
