forestofgloryYesterday I went with my parents to visit some friends in the country. The rains have not quite stopped, so the hills we drove past where still green. You could see just a touch of the golden brown of summer creeping in. The 1st bit of the route is quite urban -- one has to drive a long way to get into some place rural. (Well to get some place with farms) I made a point of notice stuff along our route -- lots of hills and cows, stretches of 1 and 2 storied commercial buildings, some subdivisions, a few trailer parks.
We got there at lunch time and where served a lovely cold lunch outside, sitting under an umbrella. There was cheese and really good bread and some salad and grilled asparagus and hard boiled eggs.
Then we went to a plant sale -- where my mom and picked up a few intriguing varieties of veggies to try in the back garden. I started feeling a bit whoosy out there though, not sure why -- might have been the heat -- but I didn't feel hot.
Next we went to concert featuring people our friends know. I'm not very musical so I mostly dozed off and read my book a bit. They have a new art center it what used to be a school -- but isn't in use anymore because there are not enough kids out there. The concert was in what used to be the cafeteria. Most of the rest of the school is being converted to condos. Which our friends told us where not selling very well.
After that we went an had dinner out. Then we drove back home.
