Last Thursday I, my parents and my brother took the redeye on and got to Boston at 5:30 Friday morning. Then we drove up to Maine for the 3rd and final wedding of my summer, that of my friend B. Her family has property up there on a big lake. We stayed in a cabin next door. It was really nice. On Saturday we helped with wedding setup and with setup for the BBQ that night. I helped crowd of women from the groom's side do the flowers, and generally ran around fetching things. (Which was amazing) Sunday I helped decorate the cake (now I really want to make some fancy cakes).
B's wedding was Sunday afternoon. It was lovely, and there was folk dancing after. All the weddings I went to had really different ceremonies. B's was very secular and had lots reading (and one interpretive dance) given by family and friends.
Monday we traveled to New York (by car and train as there is nowhere to park and no need of a car) We are now stayed with my cousin her husband and their children, 8 year
old twin girls, and the new baby who is 5 weeks old. She is so cute -- andvery relaxed baby too. I loved getting to hold her. The older girls are sweet and very energetic.
We ate really well in NYC we went out to dinner twice at places my cousin recommended. Tuesday we had lunch out with her and the twins. Plus she made us lovely breakfasts with fresh fruit, yogurt and good bread.
Wednesday we to the train back to Connecticut, and stayed with my Uncle and his family. He also cooked us lovely food, and it was good to see my cousin M who I hadn't seen in years.
Then Thursday we drove to Boston. It took a very long time as it was raining quite hard. My Dad had a meeting Friday, but my Mom, brother and I had lunch with my friend MG then we all walked to the library with was the 1st public library in the US and looked around for a while.
We flew back that evening -- not getting home until nearly 2 am. Yesterday I was quite tried as I didn't get much sleep, but spent most of the day with R which was very nice.
I'm really glad to be mostly home for the next few weeks.
