snowflake_challenge challenge number 7 is to create a fanish wishlist, people have been very generous to me in the past when I've made list like this. So even though I haven't managed to keep with the rest of the challenge (well I did update my profile but I never posted about it)

1) Chinese Reality show recs
I’d love recs for more chill Mandarin language reality shows with English subtitles. I like to watch these in short chunks when I’m taking breaks for my hands

Shows I’ve liked: Our Song, Melody Journey, The Truth Season 2, Marvelous City, When We Write Love Story

Show I tried that where too stressful: Super Vocal, Hit Song 2024, Exploring the Unknown with Wang Yibo

On my radar to check out: Sisters Who Make Waves, Call Me By Fire

Also I’m currently watching the Tea Horse Road Special Season of Keep Running and I’m aware there’s a bunch more of that but not sure which seasons have English subs

2) Our Song with English subtitles
Relatedly I’ve only been able to find seasons one and three of Our Song with English subtitles but I’d love to be able to watch the other seasons, so if anyone knows where I might be able to get that I’d be grateful

3) Taiping Guangji (太平廣記) textual history
I know this is very obscure but I've been translating stuff for the Taiping Guangji, a collection of strange tales compiled in the early Song, with my tutor for a bit and I’m having trouble finding out about its textual history. I’ve found several papers about how it was compiled and lots of references to the earliest surveying copies being from the Ming dynasty but I want more details. For example my sources are conflicting about if it was published shortly after it was compiled or not. (I can only read English but I could get someone to help me with references in French, Mandarin and possibly other languages)

4) Mandarin Graded Readers Recs
A lot of beginner reading stuff in Mandarin seems really boring, can anyone rec some graded readers that are about interesting things?

5) Long Ballad fanworks
I just really love this drama and would be thrilled if more fanworks existed! I especially love Changge and Leyan and their friendship and would be interested in work exploring that. What kind of trouble did they get up to as children? What kind of trouble do they get up to post canon? My pie in the sky wish here is for a long fic about then going on a road trip together.

6) Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung fanworks
I just finished watching this today and went to check ao3 for fic, there’s not very much and the fandom doesn’t seem to like my favorite character very much. Anyways I’d love recs for fanart or vids for this show!

I’d also love more fanworks about Prince Dowon (my fav!) he should get to Lord Peter Whimsy around talking piffle and solving mysteries. I’d also love more fic about any of the female historians or any of the other minor female characters. This also seems like fandom that would be great for writing fake academic work about but I didn’t find any of that. And if anyone has recs for non fiction about writing official history in Joseon Korea that would be awesome too!

Oooh, I also need to properly watch Sisters Who Make Waves, I love watching the performances. I would assume it's not super stressful, everyone seems very supportive of each other in clips, I suppose the fact they're already famous (and getting paid a fair bit to appear) means it's not going to be cut-throat. I'm obsessed with Jenny Zeng and Amber Liu doing Jolin Tsai's I'm Not Yours, it's such a great version. I can't do much in the way of granting your wishes, but these chill Mandarin reality show recs look appealing, I might check them out some time.
