New Year, New Month, New Goals
Jan. 2nd, 2022 04:23 pmHappy New Year Everyone! May this year be better than the last!
I don’t find goals for the year very helpful – I tend to just forget about them, so I am once again not making any. Instead I’m going to look back at my December 2021 goals and make some goals for January 2022
1) Sew a shirt for the kid
Done! (picture via Twitter)
2) Bind the Unicorn Forest quilt
Done! (pictures via Twitter or Instagram
3) Various winter holidays and family gatherings
A bunch of these got cancelled or rescheduled due to covid, so it was quieter than originally planned. But everyone in my household is currently well, and presents were exchanged and festive meals were eaten.
4) Write two posts talking about what I've been observing in the built and natural environment around me
”Daily Walks”
”Looking At Trees”
5)Write on 20 days
I wrote on 19 days. Which is not bad considering that there were days I couldn’t write due to wrist pain, and also at one point when I had only written 15 days I said “screw it I’m done writing for the year” But they there where a couple of posts that I wanted to write so I ended up writing a little more.
Stretch goal: Read some 2021 short SFF
I read a couple of stories from an anthology that I kickstarted ages ago that finally came out this year, so I guess that counts.
I feel good about my December Goals, I set the bar low because I knew it would be a tough month for focusing, but I was able to do what I set out to do for the most part. January will be a bit busier for me
1) Top secret sewing project
This is gift for someone who I don’t think reads my journal, but could if they wanted to. So I’m going to be careful and not say more about it
2) Cut of all the pieces for Sea Star Quilt
I have fabric for this set aside, so cutting is the next step
3)Write two posts talking about what I've been observing in the built and natural environment around me
4) Write on 20 days
I thought about bumping this up to 25, but my wrist is still giving me trouble.
5) Write 2021 Year in Review Posts
I have a couple of these planned, and I want to take some time with them.
6) My Mom’s birthday
We are planning a small gathering and I am going to make a cake. I also want to get her a couple more small presents.
7) Take cats to the Vet
They need their yearly check ups. The worst part of this is that I have to call on the phone to make the appointment.
8)Work through to lesson 5 in A New Practical Primer of Literary Chinese by Paul Router
This my new text book, it was recommended in Classical Chinese For Everyone for people who wanted to keep going. I like it a lot so far. I'm currently in the middle of lesson 3 and these lessons are a bit heftier than the ones in Classical Chinese For Everyone, so two and half in a month seems like a reasonable goal.
This feels like a lot of things, but most of them are small so it should be manageable.
