It's the middle of December which means we are almost done with 2020, and also that its time to check in on my monthly goals and see how they are going.
1) Finish the Pig Quilt
I finished this yesterday! Here's a picture Next step is mailing it to Canada, but R has offered to help me figure this out.
2) Finish the sea quilt top
I bought some more of the fabric that I need, and cut it up. But until yesterday the machine was set up for the Pig Quilt so I haven't done any sewing yet.
3) Hanukkah
Tonight will be the sixth night. We've been lighting our menorahs every night so far, and I have made latkes twice.
4) Christmas
Most years I'm very grumpy about the cultural dominance of Christmas, but this year I'm trying to tone it down and do things that make my household happy. So we have Christmas tree. R and I made a list of people who we thought we should give presents to, and we bought presents for all of them. Also we have decided to order some frozen dim sum to be part of our Christmas dinner Chinese food.
5) Read Five Online SFF shorts (Stretch goal read some of a collection from my TBR
I have read three! And I started reading Silk and Steel, which just came out this month.
6) Co-write the a Post for Lady Business
This is written and scheduled to post tomorrow, I'll link to it here.
7) Beta my friend’s Novel Length Fic
Done! This fic is so good! And its only going to get better with revisions. I'll link to it when it gets posted.
8) Write 5k words of or finish a draft of “Gone to the Other End of the Sky” the Untamed Space AU fic I’ve been writing
This isn't going so great. First I was taking a break to work on other projects (see goals 6 and 7). However I tried to go back this and have really struggled. One problem is that I love the worldbuilding but not the plot. Anyways I had a long chat with my writing group about it. Based on that I decided to take out a bunch of words, and I like what I have more now, but I still haven't felt like writing more. Anyways I decided not to do any word count math until the end of the month, because its too stressful. So I might not complete this goal.
It's been a stressful month so far. We are now under a stay at home order until Jan 4, and our social bubbles have been "popped" so I can't even see my parents. The Covid stuff every where is scary. It's dark and cold. I'm struggling a lot. So I'm happy with how well I'm doing with these goals and for the rest the month I'm going to try to take it easy and not worry about getting things done.

Date: 2020-12-16 05:37 pm (UTC)I started doing these stripy quilts as pandemic stress sewing, and they go together a lot faster than some of the more fiddly quilts I've done before.
