2020 Books I Want to Read
Nov. 12th, 2020 10:43 am2020 has really not been a great reading year for me. However I've been thinking about what recent books I would like to read. So I made a list of books published this year that I'm excited about:
The Four Profound Weaves by R.B. Lemberg - I love Lemberg's Birdverse stories, so I'm very excited for this novella set in that world! It features trans elders and textiles!
Phoenix Extravagant by Yoon Ha Lee -- I don't know much about this except that it by Yoon Ha Lee and maybe features Mecha? Thats enough to be worth checking out.
The Magic Fish by Trung Le Nguyen -- I just got this graphic novel from the library. It looks really pretty!
A Pale Light in the Black by K.B. Wagers -- another thing I have out form the library. This was reced to me as being very cosy. It's marketed as military SF, which is generally not my thing, but apparently focuses on an org that is like the Coast Guard which sounds more my speed.
Frostgilded by Stephanie Burgis -- This comes out in a few days. It's billed as an epilogue to The Harwood Spellbook series of novellas, which I adore. Very much looking forward to it, but sad its the last one.
Seven of Infinities by Aliette de Bodard -- new Xuya novella, need I say more?
The Deep & Dark Blue by Niki Smith -- I bought this graphic novel while my library was closed but I still haven't gotten around to reading it.
The Unspoken Name by A.K. Larkwood -- I have heard many good things about this book!
Division Bells by Iona Datt Sharma -- I don't think this m/m novella is SFF, but its by one of my favorite authors so I'm excited to read it!
Consolation Songs: Optimistic Speculative Fiction For A Time of Pandemic ed. Iona Datt Sharma -- I've had mixed results with stories labeled optimistic, some I have found downright bleak. But I feel like the editor and I are close to the same page about this based on the fiction they write so I'm excited to try these.
