April Goal Mid-Month Check In
Apr. 15th, 2020 10:34 amWell it is halfway through the month so time for goals check in. Here are the goals I started with at the beginning of the month an how I'm doing with them.
1)Sew the two quilt tops I have cut out
These turned out to be really fast to put together! I guess using big pieces like this make everything fast.

2)Sew a dress with the fabric the kid picked out
This not going nearly as well. I did buy the pattern for this dress, and then I felt anxious about trying a new pattern so I haven't gotten any further. I hope to at least get the dress cut out by the end of the month.
3)Post the fic I'm working on
Done!
4)Read five online SFF shorts
I have actually read 3 so far. Beneath Ceaseless Skies has specially double length issue #300 which features a novelette by R.B. Lemberg. So I bought a copy as an ebook because I am having trouble focusing on screens and I want to be able to read the story and not lose focus. So far I have read one story form that issue (but not the Lemberg one) and two online flash stories.
5)Passover
Passover ends at sunset tomorrow. So far it is going ok. We where able to get matzo and it turned out that we had enough matzo meal leftover form last year to make a recipe of matzo ball soup. So we had hosted a Seder via Zoom. Which was ok. There was a lot of tech faff and I really wished that I could have actually fed people, but it was nice considering.
6)Fanwriting Project AKA Five Fandom 5+1s and a Meme
I posted the first one of these yesterday. I had hoped to launch a bit early but I got distracted by the fic. However I do have a lot of this drafted an outlined, so I plan to post the rest by the end of the month.
So how are you doing? Do you have some projects that are helping you get through these times?

Date: 2020-04-15 06:45 pm (UTC)I haven't done any semi-fancy cooking like I sort of wanted to, but I have cooked soup for myself to eat several times, to maybe balance out the times I ate peanut butter on graham crackers for dinner.

Date: 2020-04-16 12:01 pm (UTC)Also, interested to know what flash fiction you read, and whether you think I'd like either of them?
I've brought back Short Business sort of (reading a story every week day and writing some kind of words about it), and reorganising my bookshelves and Jenny and I are picking up our Black Sails posts again. Also a bit of light gardening 101 style which hopefully will help when I run out of bookshelves to do. Colouring those really fiddly books by Joanna Basford and Millie Marotta slowly is also pretty helpful right now.

Date: 2020-04-16 04:52 pm (UTC)Anyways my current plan is to draft all the 5+1 posts before I start anymore fic.
The Untamed is amazing of course, but it can be confusing and does take a lot of brain. So it might not be the right thing for you right now.
I think you'd like both the the flash pieces actually they are: "Silver and Shadow, Spruce and Pine" by Maria Haskins and Burning Bright by Stephanie Burgis
I saw that you where doing a daily story for Short Business! I'm very impressed because I have never been able to read a story a day. I'm hoping to pick up some recs form you.
