Well its the middle of the month, so lets have goal update? Things have been very uncertain around here but I have been doing stuff.

1) Finish posting Hugo Rec (by close of nominations March 13)
Done! You can check my Hugo Awards tag to see all the recs. I glad I did these the 1st week of March because I would have felt frivolous posting them this last week.

2)Finish a draft of the current fic I'm writing
I am making slow but steady progress on this. I'm at almost 5k words and I think I'm over halfway done. I have a better idea of what is going to happen which is making the fic easier to write, its not going very fast but that's more because of current events than because I don't know what I'm doing.

3) read five online SFF shorts
No progress on this. Um and one have any recs for extra cosy pro shorts? I'm struggling to focus on reading anything that's not fic.

4) Finish the shirt that I cut out last month
This coming along. I've got it into a basically shirt-like shape now, so I should be able to finish no problem.

5) Finish the quilt top for my friends' wedding present
Done! Pictures via Instagram

6) FOGcon!
Gosh, was this only a week ago? The con was fun! It was good to see my con friends, and talk to people about books. Everyone was bit anxious at the con but it was nice. I also enjoyed having a few kid free mornings.

Well, things are pretty hectic around here. Preschool is closes until at least April 5. So although at the beginning of the month I thought I might want add a goal at the midmonth check in I am not going do so. Things are very up in the air right now an I don't want to add more commitments.

Currently I'm doing quite a bit of sewing, I find that much easier to focus on then writing right now. So in addition to the projects mention above I've cut out another shirt and have started planning a baby quilt, including shopping for some fabric online this morning.

Stay safe and take care of yourselves everyone!

I think it's very sensible not to include a stretch goal right now. As you've said, things are so uncertain right now. It makes it hard to know how much energy you're going to have.

But nice work on the goal progress so far! It seems like you're doing pretty well.

I rec Sinew and Steel and What They Told by Carrie Vaughn for feelsy SFF that honestly felt a lot like fic to me.

That quilt is gorgeous! Do the colors have importance/relevance? And did you use a pattern? It looks very crazy-quilt-esque and those have always impressed me, a strictly pattern-bound person.

I can't remember how I came by this story, so apologies if it was a rec by you or something, but I found this little story in Diabolical Plots utterly delightful: Dear Parents, Your Child Is Not the Chosen One by P.G. Galalis. I think the title gives you a good indication of what you're going to get. :-)
