It's August! So time for to talk about goals.

In the last couple weeks of this month I had some depression flare up so last week I decided that I just wasn’t going to quite meet all these goal. So I scaled way back on my weekly goals and decided to be gentle with myself. I’d sad about it but, that’s how it is. Let see how I did on my goals for July

1) Finish the rainbow baby quilt
As mention at the mid-month check in I did this! Picture here I’m still very pleased with this!

2) Sew a top for me
I got this project cut out and did a very small amount of sewing on it. So progress at least.

3) Write two posts talking about what I've been observing in the built and natural environment around me
Done! One, two.

4) Write 5k more of my fic WIP (stretch goal 10K)
Also done, though I did not meet the stretch goal.

5) Write two letters to state or local officials
I did one of these because someone made it very very easy for me, but I failed to write a second one.

6 )Read Five Online SFF shorts(stretch goal:read some of one of the collections or anthologies I have around)
Done! Some of these where longer than flash even.

7) Do something nice for my birthday
I had good birthday! I did some self-promo on twitter the day before so I got lots of nice comments and kudos to wake up to. Then I had a zoom part with some friends (and cake) which was lovely. After lunch R and I went for a walk in the botanic gardens, then I hung around reading Zen Cho’s new novella which I had been saving for a special occasion. For dinner my parents brought us takeout from a very fancy restaurant, which was delicious!

Well that's actually better than I thought! I got stuff done!

For August I’m still dealing with some depression, and we will be transitioning back to having no child care so I'm trying not to over reach.

1) Finish top for me
Hopefully now that is cut out I can be motivated to actually sew it. I’m still struggling little with projects that are for me and I’m not sure why.

2)Do one of: Sew blocks into quilt top, or quilt finished quilt top with dragons
These are both fun quilting projects, that want to work on so at least motivation shouldn’t be a problem.

3)Finish draft of the fic
Is this a wildly ambitious goal? Maybe. I will reevaluate mid-month when I will hopefully have better sense of this. I think there's about 7000 words left, but I don't exactly have a lot of experience guessing my own word counts.

4 )Read Five Online SFF shorts
This has been a sustainable goal in past so I’m going to keep it.

5) Write two posts talking about what I've been observing in the built and natural environment around me
I’m really enjoying this project. A lot of it kind of rambling but its fun and its making me pay more attention to things so that’s good. I’m thinking of giving this project/blog series a name but I’m not sure what. Any ideas?

6) Write two letters to state or local officials
I barely manged one last month but I really want to be a better activist. I know people who call their electeds weekly or even daily, so I don't know why two letters is so hard for me.

I hope you had a better month than I did in July. How are your projects going? Are you meeting your goals?
