Home for Break
Dec. 16th, 2012 08:11 amSo I'm back in Berkeley for winter break. I'll be here until the middle of January.
We flew back on Thursday. We had to transfer in Denver but that went smoothly. On the second flight we got a whole three seats to the two of us which was very nice. I got to sit at the window and watch the Rockies, and then watch us coming in to SFO. It is much greener here than in Iowa. We flew over lovely green hills coming in.
We've been fairly busy since we got back. (And also still tired and recovering from finals, and the very long semester.)
Friday we did some shopping, both holiday gifts and food, and we went by the library and picked up all the books I had on hold. The Berkeley Public Library has a very good collection, I think I will make good progress on my to-read list over break.
Saturday (yesterday) was my mother-in-laws holiday open house. We had a massive spread of nibbles, and I ate far too many cookies.
Today I'm going to a play with my mother in the afternoon, then out to dinner with the family to celebrate my brother's graduation.
I've found that some of the scientists I was writing about in my final paper/start of thesis chapter have papers in the Bancroft Library at Cal. So I'm hoping to do go look at them while I am in Berkeley. Right now I'm just working on making a list of things I want to see. Then I will be able to send a professional sounding e-mail to the librarian by end of this week -- before the campus is totally closed.
