Thursday morning R and I had our penultimate wedding outfit fitting. I was very pleased by how good things look. Last time I tried on the dress I felt a little awkward and unsure about it. However the finish work has make a huge difference, and it looks amazing now. The flowers there are working on look great too. Plus R's coat looks amazing -- the finish work and trim made big difference there too. I'm super excited about our outfits now.

The rest of the afternoon we spend exploring the Delta. I decided that if I'm going to write my thesis on the environmental history of the delta, I should know what it looks like. So we planned a trip.

We didn't plan to go anywhere in particular, just looked at map, headed along 160 and decided to go where our fancy took us.

To get into the Delta proper we went over a very tall bridge. We think it was arched to allow cargo ships to travel under it. Then we where on Sherman island. We got off the highway an on to a bumpy road. I though there would be veggies growing but there where just cows and grass. our bumpy road took us to the levy -- form up there you can really see how much higher the river was then the land. We drove along the river for a bit, and stopped and harbor and RV Park, got out an walked around. We tried to decide if people lived at the RV park or were vacationers. We leaned towards living. Then we got back in the car an drove along the levy road to the bridge off the island. It was a draw bridge.

On the other side of the bridge was a state Recreation Area. We got free 20 min pass and drove around a bit. The rec area was mostly picnic tables and campsites. We stopped and used the bathroom. We did see several jack rabbits. They had really big ears and where awesome to watch.

Next we stopped at a farmers market in barn. The peaches smelled heavenly, but we didn't buy any because we still had lots form my peach picking on Sunday. Instead we bought a melon.

After that we started looking for some lunch. We originally meant to buy some sandwiches before we started, but there was some confusion about the best time to buy sandwiches and they didn't happen. So we headed towards a road called the delta loop where we where told there where restaurants. We ended up stopping at the pirates lair -- where the only veggie thing on the menu was grilled cheese (made with good ole American cheese) after some internal debate I decieded to eat something that tasted good instead.

After lunch we drove through the town of Isleton, which is full of cute but tiny houses, and well below the water on the other side of the levy.

Then we drove back via the north bay.
