Twitter seems like it might implode at any moment now. Even if Twitter doesn't implode a lot of people are leaving and its going to be changed after this. I know we all call it a hellsite but I'm going to miss the community I had there.

I was very hesitant to use Twitter at first, but eventually [personal profile] renay convinced me to join. (Renay convincing me to do things is a source of many good things in my life) I started out mostly hanging out with SFF folks and chatting about short SFF. When I got into transformative fandom I added more folk to talk about characters and fic. And I've always followed a smattering of scholars in fields I'm interested in. In the last couple of years I've also been following various local politicians to keep up with local news. I like that twitter is and eclectic mix of things!

I've made friends on twitter. Twitter is where I find out about a lot of thing things I read. I learn about pro SFF, fanfic and historical monographs there that I don't think I would find out about elsewhere. I've also found Twitter very helpful for motivating self study. I like live tweeting books about the history of china, and my classical Chinese lessons. It helps give me some feedback on something that otherwise would be very solitary.

Anyways I'm trying out some new social media sites to see if they can fill some of the hole. I'm now Forestofglory@wandering.shop on Mastodon and Forestofglory on Cohost. I'm not sure that I will be using either of those long term. But I guess we'll see.
