Another new month, another post about monthly goals.
Here are the goals I set myself for August:
1) Finish the Space Cats quilt.
Done! (And in the mail) I'm really happy with how this one came out. Pictures via Twitter or Instagram
2) Finish a draft of my fic and get it ready for beta
Done! Some friends did very nice beta read on this, and I completed a round of revisions based on their comments. It's now with another friend who is going to read it an help me with the summary and maybe make some other comments.
3) Read Five SFF shorts
Nope, didn't read any. My reading brain has been all over the place this month, but one place it wasn't was short SFF.
4) Write two posts talking about what I've been observing in the built and natural environment around me

5) Start of school!
This happened! Kid seems to like kindergarten so far. It been an adjustment for me having her out of the house so much. I may have got the morning routine more or less down, but I'm still getting used to this new pattern.
Well I finished a draft of my WIP that I started in may, and the space cats quilt! I was good month for finishing things. Less of good month for reading short SFF. Time to talk about goals for this month.
1) Sew two shirts for the kid
Time to sew some long sleeve shirts for the cooler weather we will have in a few months. (September and October are hot months in the Bay Area)
2)Get the space bees quilt ready to be quilted
I have fabric for a back, but I need to do some sewing to get it the right shape. I either have or have ordered the other things I will need.
3) Write two posts talking about what I've been observing in the built and natural environment around me
4) Post my fic
On the one hand I don't think there is very much writing work left to do on this, but on the other hand I know its going to take emotional energy to put something that I have been working on for a long time out into the world.
5) Job hunting
I should probably make this a more quantifiable goal, but I'm not sure what is reasonable right now.
6) Work through lesson 10 in Classical Chinese for Everyone

x_los has been writing about her thoughts on various episodes of Chinese Literature Podcast, and one of the episodes was about this book. And learning Classical Chinese very much appeals to my history loving self, so I decided to check it out. I've worked through lesson 4. But then I decided that I wasn't learning the characters well enough so I'm going back an writing each of them a bunch of times. But I really like the book so far. All the readings are actual texts written in Classical Chinese, which means I have now read a couple of sentences of Analytics! Which is very cool!
