Goal! January Wrap Up and February Goals
Feb. 1st, 2021 11:04 amIt's a new month, so time for some new goals! But first a look back at last months goals
1) Write my 2020 in review posts
Non-fiction writing
fanfic writing
Outdoor finds
reading
Sewing
2) Write two posts talking about what I've been observing in the built and natural environment around me
Outdoor finds
Rain
3) Read Five Online SFF shorts (Stretch goal: read or DNF all bookmarked stories form 2020, and finish Silk and Steel)
I read five online shorts! I only manged a couple stories in Silk and Steel but I only have two 2020 stories bookmarked in my to read folder.
4)Sew two shirts for the kid
Manattees!
Flowers!
5) Sew Stripey baby quilt top
Finished this before my mid month check but here's the picture again, just in case.
6)Write something fun!
I've written about 1000 words of a new fic so I'm counting that a success.
7) Take the cats to the vet
Done! They are both healthy. My nephew's cat needs to go back to get some booster shots, and I have an appointment to take her in for that latter this month.
8)School Choice Form
I ended up asking R to do this, because I was feeling overwhelmed by the paperwork aspect. He has done it and we now have confirmation that it was accepted so we just have to wait a few months.
Mentally January has been a lot. A lot of events and I've been in a not great place mental health wise. Despite all that I did great at my goals! Well done me!
Here are my goals for February
1) Work of fic at least 20 days this month
I want to make some more space to work on my current fic project. But I also want to focus on keeping the process fun, and word count goals can stress me out. So I'm going to try a days written goal and see how that goes.
2) Write two posts talking about what I've been observing in the built and natural environment around me
This has been a recurring monthly goal for a while and I like writing those posts, so its back again.
3) Read Five Online SFF shorts
This continues to be a very sustainable goal for me.
4) Finish sewing the button up shirt for my kid
I have started this, but it still has some fiddly bits to go.
5) Either sew garments for my friends Nibblings OR Finish the Sea Quilt (Stretch goal both)
The next step of the sea quilt has to be done outside because of space issues, and I'm not sure if it will be dry enough to get that done for a while. The Nibbling include the kid who adored the shirt I made him last year, so I'm excited to make him something else!
6) Looking into getting more mental health care
I always think about what goals I want to set for the month for a few days around the end of month. Sometimes its easy, sometimes I have to many ideas, but this month I looked a the five goals above and thought "that's enough." I'm just tried, and feeling worn down. However I also felt a bit guilty about not doing more. Looking back on the last few months I realize I've been struggling for a while. I though maybe I would feel better when external circumstances changed, but they have changed and I still feel overwhelmed and depressed. So maybe its time to ask for some more help?
