January Goals Wrap Up February Goals
Feb. 1st, 2020 02:54 pmIts February! That means that its time for a monthly goals post. I'm not really ready for it to have been 2020 for a whole month all ready but that's how it is. So at the beginning of January I said that thought I could make all my goals if I stayed focused, and I must report that I did not stay focused. I wrote some fic and helped brainstorm panel ideas for Wiscon among other things. So I didn't meet all my goals but I did pretty well. Lets go over them one by one:
1) Update my Resume
I did amazing at this goal! Not only did I update my resume but I also wrote a cover letter and applied to a job!
2) Post all my 2019 in review posts
Success! I posted about what I wrote, watched and read last year!
3) Sew a shirt for the kid
I did not finish this but I did get this project cut out and made progress on the sewing. (picture via instagram)
4) Read or DNF all the 2019 short SFF I have bookmarked
I also did not finish this, but I did make some progress.
5) Plan G’s visit!
I did this! Then G had job interview and we had to change the plans around but then the interview was canceled so we went back to the 1st plan. Anyways we had nice visit. I wish I got to see her more often.
6) Take the cat to the vet
Done! The cat is well and now up to date on her shots.
7) School Enrollment Paperwork
This is also not done. It turn out I the kids birth certificate for this and that we don't have a copy. So I have ordered some and they will hopefully arrive soon.
So I feel pretty ok about my progress last month despite not meeting three of my goals. So lets talk about my goals for this month. February is a short month but also I'm now unemployed so I have more time. So I have lot I want to get done.
1) Post some Hugo recs
Hugo nominations have been open for a while and I haven't really talked about them yet. I want to post about some of the things I'm thinking about nominating especially for categories that get less attention. I hope to make at least a couple of posts about this.
2) Read or DNF all the 2019 short SFF I have bookmarked
Carry over goal form last month. The stretch goal is to also read all the novellas I have lying around or on hold at the library (currently four)I want see how much I can read before Hugo nominations close
3) Write at least one sentence about nature or the built enviroment everyday
Several months ago I said I wanted to write more about these topics, but then things where busy and I didn't mange. So I'm going back to that intention. This a very small daily goal so hopefully I can make it work. Right now I think I will just keep a nature diary, but if I'm inspired to try something else I can
4) Finish the shirt I'm sewing and cut out another one
Kids grow really fast so I don't want to get behind on my project!
5)Finish School Enrollment Paperwork
Hopefully one the birth certificate gets to me this will not be too hard
6) Enjoy the long weekend where R will be at a con and my cousin and her family will be in town visiting
(And don't beat myself up for not getting anything done that weekend -- no really this should most be fun!)
7) Book flights to WisCon!
I always find buying flight pretty overwhelming but I need to do this!
And also of course I'm going to keep job hunting. I still don't have great sense of what my day to day productivity looks like so hopefully this is a reasonable amount to get done? I guess I will find out.
