Made It Back
Aug. 24th, 2013 10:47 amWe have arrived safely in Iowa after three days of driving. We got in late Thursday night, and spent Friday recovering from the long drive.
Anyways our trip was mostly uneventful. We listened to lots of NPR podcasts. The western US is not very densely populated.
We had lunch at very nice farm-to-fork place in Reno, called Old Granite Street Eatery on the 1st day of the trip. We found it entirely by accident, just happened to see it while driving around looking for food. I had a chutney sandwich --which I didn't know was think out side the UK. It was lovely. R had pulled pork which he enjoyed.
The rest of the food on the trip was not quite so nice, we stopped at a lot of roadside dinners, most of which where greasy.
However we did have dinner in Laramie with some friends. It was good see other people and walk around for a bit. Laramie is a classic western railroad town with some really well preserved old building down town.
In the pile of mail waiting for us was my M.A. certificate! I know it is not a academic credential but I feel excited to have it. Now I just need to think of place where I can write M.A. (cantab) after my name.
