Road Trip Part 3 -- Yellowstone
Aug. 13th, 2011 08:42 amIn the morning we bought sandwiches and head of to Grand Tetons National Parks are a series of awesome looking peaks -- we stopped at lots of turn outs to take in the views, and did short walk which was a self guided tour of a old ranch site. We went through the park and in Yellowstone. Our 1st stop was Upper Geyser Basin home of Old Faithful. Which conveniently erupted just after we got there. We then took a walk around geyser hill. There is a nice board walk there so you can see the geysers form a safe distance. In some places the smell of of sulfur was pretty strong.
Our next stop was biscut basin where we saw the sapphire pool. We then continued our drive around the park, taking a few scenic detours. We stopped at the Gibson falls over look, to watch a Bison, and at Look Out Point which has a good view of the Lower Yellowstone falls. On our way out of the park we saw several more bison all with crowds of onlookers at the side of the road.
We got to our hotel in Cody, Wyoming quite late and had dinner in at a place called Granny's Family Dinning. We both had breakfast for dinner. It was so-so but at least it wasn't more grilled cheese.
