Looking at old Photos
Apr. 18th, 2011 11:04 amI was just back east helping my mother and uncle deal with the stuff in my grandmothers house. My grandmother didn't have a lot of stuff be she did have bunch of old photos.
The most amusing photos where the ones my grandfather took. They are mostly bad photos, blury, out of focus, bad composition but careful labeled. There was one labeled " A spinning restaurant on top of a tall building as seem from a moving bus, so-and-so head in the lower left"
There where a few old family photos -- a class picture from my grandfathers college, a pic of my great-aunt looking unrecognizably glamorous and young, my mothers prom photos, and some old snap shots.
Then there where piles of pictures that my mother had sent over the years. I think I had seen most of these before, but looking at them en masse was something else. There was a series of photos of my brother and I taken at an old hitching post across the street from my grandmothers house. There are some pictures of me displaying some really awful fashion-sense (eg bright turquoise flowered leggings with a clashing top). The there where the sad pictures of old pets who have died. There was a picture of me at age seven holding Ammy who was at the time a half grown kitten. I miss that cat so much. She died a few years back at 17. There where other old pets as well. It was also interesting to look at our house in the background. There was a major remodel when I was 5 and the house looking really different before. And there where a bunch of pictures taken in our dining room which has also changed over the years.
